Kiyah J. Duffey, PhD
President
Kiyah J. Duffey, Founder & President, received a PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2009) and a BA in Psychology from Bowdoin College (2001).
Kiyah's interests are in promoting the health of children and families by partnering with companies and organizations that are working to increase access to healthy foods, improve skills and nutrition knowledge, and change local, state, and federal food policies.
Her research focuses on understanding the determinants of dietary intake and the relationship between diet and long-term health outcomes, including obesity, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease. Increasingly, her research and writing focuses on evidence-based policies for obesity prevention and keys to successful development healthy habits in children and families. Her research has influenced various local and state policies and been featured in numerous popular media outlets.
Kiyah is adjunct faculty in the department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise at Virginia Tech and a freelance nutrition-science writer for numerous organizations that are working to promote child and family health. She lives in Virginia with her husband and three children.
